Week 13 Matchup: Steelers at Ravens
When the Steelers have the ball: START RB Jonathan Dwyer. Mike Tomlin finally came out and said that Jonathan Dwyer will get the most touches (aka the start) this week against the Ravens. It’s about time. Fantasy owners have known that Dwyer was the best back since about Week 2. He’s averaging 4.4 yards per carry and has two of the Steelers’ three rushing performances of 100 or more yards. Last time Dwyer faced the Ravens (in a split role) he totaled 81 yards on 15 touches. The Ravens haven’t allowed a TD to a RB since Week 7, so … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Bengals at Chargers
When the Bengals have the ball: START WR A.J. Green. Ten TDs in his last 10 games. ‘Nuff said. START QB Andy Dalton. Dalton has thrown nine TDs in his last three games and has thrown for multiple scores in seven games this season. The Chargers have allowed multiple TD passes six times this season and have allowed six TD passes in the last three. This smacks of a 240-yard, two touchdown performance. A reluctant START RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, if you’re a believer in the last two weeks. The Law Firm has topped 100 yards and scored in each of … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Eagles at Cowboys
When the Eagles have the ball: START RB Bryce Brown and that’s it. The rest of the Eagles don’t look like they belong on the field right now. Brown’s 178 yards and two touchdowns drew comparisons to Arian Foster on Monday night. While we’re not going that far, I’m happy with starting Brown against a Cowboys squad that has allowed a TD to a RB in six of the last seven games. BENCH WR Jeremy Maclin. DeSean Jackson is out for the season, which means that defenses can basically focus only on Maclin. In the last five weeks, Maclin has … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Panthers at Chiefs
When the Panthers have the ball: START QB Cam Newton. It took 11 weeks, but the 2011 Cam Newton finally showed up this year with a 306-yard, 4 TD performance last week. The chance for an encore in Week 13 is high as he faces a Kansas City Chiefs secondary that has allowed 22 TDs to opposing QBs this season. Only the Oakland Raiders have allowed more passing TDs, with 23. Another plus for Newton is that Chiefs starting FS Kendrick Lewis is questionable with a shoulder injury, weakening an already porous defensive secondary. Look for the Panthers to try … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Patriots at Dolphins
When the Dolphins have the ball: Except in the deepest of leagues BENCH QB Ryan Tannehill. Ryan Tannehill has improved as the season has gone on but he still has only gotten multiple TDs in one game. New England is god-awful against the pass – only three teams are allowing more YPG through the air and only two teams have given up more passing TDs – but you’d have to really be between a rock and a hard place to play Tannehill as your QB1. He could approach 275 yards and score 2 TDs but he’s more of a QB2 … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Texans at Titans
When the Texans have the ball: START RB Arian Foster. Only 10 teams have more rushing yards than Foster this season, and only two have more than his 14 combined rushing & receiving TDs. In what amazingly amounts to his second-worst fantasy performance of the season, Foster ran for 86 yards and scored a TD against the Titans when these two teams met in Week 4. Despite a bottom-five ranking against opposing RBs, the Titans have somehow managed to hold all but three backs they’ve faced under 100 yards. But they allow over 4.3 YPC and Foster is superhuman, so … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Jaguars at Bills
When the Jaguars have the ball: BENCH QB Chad Henne. After an awful first month, the Bills pass defense has tightened up a bit recently. Only two of the last six passers they’ve faced threw more than 1 TD pass. They held Tom Brady to 237 & 2 a few weeks ago, then stumped Andrew Luck (240 & 1) last week. Henne is an intriguing option in deep or two-QB leagues in what has suddenly become a dangerous Jaguars passing game. Taking advantage of the latent skills of rookie WRs Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon, Henne has thrown for over … Continue reading

Week 13 Matchup: Browns at Raiders
When the Browns have the ball: NOTE: Current weather forecasts call for winds as high as 35-40 MPH and a 100% chance of rain on Sunday during this game, with potential for flooding. I’ve downgraded both teams’ passing games as a result. START RB Trent Richardson. Pretty much all you need to know about the Raiders run defense is that they just allowed BenJarvus Green-Ellis to rush for a career-high 129 yards last week. Prior to popping off 6.8 YPC against the Radiers, BGE was plodding along at 3.5 YPC for the season. On the off chance that you need … Continue reading
